Kali Nethunter Linux for Any Android Phone 2022
Kali NetHunter is a free and open-source mobile penetration testing platform for Android devices, based on Kali Linux. Kali NetHunter is available for un-rooted devices, for rooted devices that have a standard recovery, and for rooted devices with custom recovery for which a NetHunter specific kernel is available.
Prepare your phone ahead of time
Before you download and install this ROM on your Android device, it has to be rooted with a program like Magisk
Installation instructions:
- Install attached Magisk Module
- Reboot device
- Run Nethunter app – allow 7(!) Root-related permissions prompts and wait for initialisation
- Click “Kali Chroot Manager”
- Click “Install Kali Chroot” – “Download Latest”
- Install the full Chroot Kali package (around 800MB)
- Wait for Chroot to download/install (this may take a few minutes)
- Click “Install & Update” – allow Root permission for Nethunter Terminal app
- Enjoy!
Set up Metasploit In Kali NetHunter
If you want to use Kali NetHunter to its fullest, you will also need to install the Metasploit testing tool. Either run the command msfdb init, or go into the Kali Services Tab on the main Nethunter App and set it to Start at boot. Then to run Metasploit, type in the command msfconsole or open any tool which uses Metasploit.
Try the GUI tools in Kali NetHunter
While you can now use this on your rooted Android device, you may also want to use its GUI tools. If that’s the case, you also need to install and enable a VNC viewer.
Uninstall
To remove this fully:
- Load “Kali Chroot Manager” in the Nethunter app and click “Remove Chroot” (Reboot and Remove Chroot)
- Uninstall Kali Nethunter Magisk module (Reboot)
- Manually uninstall Nethunter, Kali Terminal and Kali VNC apps
- Remove any leftover files – /sdcard/nh_files, /sdcard/nh_install_*.log
Notes
This is an unofficial build. Credits to all the Offensive Security team and those working on the Nethunter project.
When first launching VNC Server/Viewer click “Use default config” and then install the Kali menu with “apt install kali-menu” to get the full packages list in the menu.
This includes the main APKs needed to run, the extra APKs (Hackerskeyboard, Shodan, cSploit etc.) will need to be installed seperately
