Download LineageOS 17 for Supported Devices

Download Lineage OS 17 Based on Android 10

Download LineageOS 17 for Supported Devices LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Is it safe to install LineageOS 17?

LineageOS is the biggest, streamlined and widely used Android custom ROM maker among all. At the time of writing this article, there were more than 1.5 million active installations of various LineageOS versions on various devices across the globe. Well, this figure tells itself about the popularity of LineageOS.

Usually any Android custom ROM software will not get any monthly security update from Google. Unlike others, LineageOS team is very quick to merge security updates from AOSP to LineageOS branches. So, it is an individual developer’s responsibility to provide monthly updates in case of an UNOFFICIAL LineageOS 17, else in the case of an OFFICIAL LineageOS 17, the OTA updates come every week from LineageOS servers.

Some of the key LineageOS 17 Features

Below are few of the major features from LineageOS 17 (excluding Android 10 features) which are listed below:

  • Customization:
    – The phone is yours. It should look the way you want it. LineageOS makes it possible.
    – Custom E-mail App
    – Custom dialer app with built-in recorder
    – Their own calculator app
  • Security:
    – Trust: helps you understand how secure is your phone which is running on LineageOS 17 and warn you, if it is not.
    – Security patches are pushed by Google if your phone is Android certified. In case of LineageOS, it is them who takes care to merge and push all the security updates to the supported phones at the earliest.
  • After OEM support and Long term support:
    – LineageOS supports devices from more that 20 OEMs.
    – LineageOS supports devices older than 2 years where many OEMs ditch support for
  • LineageOS exclusive Apps:
    – LineageOS has it’s own SDK and API set to help developer build apps exclusively for your device running on LineageOS 17.

Features of Lineage OS 17

As the Lineage OS will be based on the Android Q, most of the features will be taken from the Android Q and will be available once Google releases the source code after rolling the final official build. You can find the list of features below, that we expect the Lineage OS 17 to pack with it;

  • You might witness the Wi-Fi Direct Printing come to Android OS with the new Android 10 Q.
  • Android Q will also add Call Recording Tone support. This feature will help you record Phone Calls lawfully, as in some countries recording calls is illegal.
  • Android Q adds support for using your phone as a Bluetooth Keyboard or Mouse.
  • The “Systrace Android Studio Tool” for monitoring performance will also be in-built with the Android Q.

Battery saving

Almost all phones have a battery saver application that gets activated automatically when the battery falls below 15-20% or you can even switch it on manually. In Havoc however, you get multiple features to do so. One such feature is ‘Sensor block per-package’. You can switch it on manually. What this feature does it that it essentially blocks the access to certain sensors on your phone for certain apps, which saves battery. Another feature is ‘Alarm blocker’, which prevents certain applications from waking up your phone when you get notifications. Using these battery saving features can sometimes give you a massive boost in screen-on times.

Quick Settings

Quick settings can be accessed by pulling the notification shade further down. Most Android skins allow you some basic quick settings including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Mobile data toggles, etc. Havoc-OS, on the other hand, can offer you multiple quick setting toggles, and even some features that wouldn’t previously exist on your device like screen recording (which can be accessed from the quick settings).

What about the new things?

This release was planned to be something bigger, but after a talk with our maintainer, we decided to add changes that are pretty essential to close down this Pie chapter, with a mix of… trying to improve what we had already and fixing some bugs and keeping everything up-to-date… and why not having some fun inbetween? That’s why we share to you our changelog:

Android 10 just dropped today for Google Pixel devices, but it’ll probably be a while before most devices get the update. Breaking that tradition, though, is the Essential Phone, as usual, and Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 Pro with day one Android 10 updates.

It should come as no surprise that the Essential Phone is getting Android 10 on day one. While there’s no second generation (yet, hopefully), the device has consistently picked up security patches, beta releases, and major updates within days or even hours of Google’s Pixel lineup. Truly, this struggling startup is showing the rest of the industry how it’s done.

As per usual, Essential’s update doesn’t differ much from what Google is offering. Users can expect gesture navigation, a system-wide dark mode, and much, much more when the update hits their devices.

The Android 10 update is rolling out now for “Open Market” customers but should be available for all Essential Phone users in the coming days. The update is roughly 1GB in size.
